Safety Tips
Your safety matters. This guide covers the basics of protecting your privacy, recognizing red flags, and using tools that keep conversations respectful and enjoyable.
Before You Start
Pick a well‑lit, comfortable space where you can focus. Use headphones to improve audio quality and privacy. If you’re on a shared device or network, sign out of personal accounts and close unrelated tabs. You’re in control: if you ever feel unsure, end the chat. A polite goodbye is enough.
Protect Your Privacy
- Keep personal info private: Don’t share your phone number, address, workplace, school, passwords, or financial details.
- Control your background: Use a neutral wall or enable background blur to avoid revealing your location.
- Choose a display name wisely: Use a nickname instead of your full name.
- Think before you share: Screenshots and recordings can be saved. Share only what you’re comfortable making public.
Consent and Respect
Healthy conversations are built on consent. If someone asks a question you don’t want to answer, you don’t owe an explanation — just change the topic or end the chat. Never pressure others for personal information or actions, and avoid conversations that violate your local laws or our Community Guidelines.
Red Flags to Watch For
- Requests for money, gift cards, or “urgent help.”
- Links to unknown websites, downloads, or files.
- Attempts to move the chat off‑platform right away.
- Inappropriate comments, threats, or hate speech.
If you encounter any of these, end the conversation and use the report/block tools provided in the dashboard.
Using Report and Block Tools
Our providers include built‑in tools to help you control your experience. If a user violates the rules, submit a report with a short note. Blocking prevents future matches with that user. Reports help keep the community safe — thank you for using them.
For Parents and Educators
We recommend supervision for minors and open discussions about online safety. Review privacy settings together, and agree on boundaries for what is and isn’t okay to share. Encourage young users to come to you if something feels wrong, without fear of getting in trouble.
Quick Checklist
- Use headphones and good lighting.
- Never share sensitive info.
- End uncomfortable chats immediately.
- Report violations and block repeat offenders.
- Review our Disclaimer and provider policies.
