Community Guidelines
These guidelines are here to help you have great conversations while keeping Chat42 friendly and safe for everyone. Please read them before you start chatting.
Core Principles
- Respect: Treat people the way you want to be treated. No harassment, hate speech, or discrimination.
- Consent: Participation is voluntary. If someone declines or ends a chat, respect that decision immediately.
- Privacy: Protect your information and never pressure others to disclose personal details.
- Legality: Follow the laws of your country and the third‑party providers’ rules at all times.
What’s Okay
- Friendly conversation, cultural exchange, language practice, and casual small talk.
- Positive, helpful feedback and curiosity about someone’s hobbies or interests.
- Ending a chat politely if it’s not a match. A quick “Thanks, take care!” is perfect.
What’s Not Okay
- Harassment, threats, or any form of hate speech.
- Spam, scams, phishing, or trying to sell products/services without permission.
- Requests for money, gift cards, or sensitive personal information.
- Sharing illegal content or encouraging illegal activity.
Consent and Boundaries
Real connection only happens when everyone feels comfortable. Ask before changing topics, and pay attention to signals—if the other person seems hesitant or says no, switch topics or end the chat. You can always leave a conversation without giving a reason, and others can do the same.
Your Safety Toolkit
- Use a nickname if you prefer not to share your real name.
- Avoid sharing contact details or personal links with strangers.
- End any chat that makes you uncomfortable and try another match.
- Use the report/block tools in the dashboard to address violations quickly.
Cross‑Cultural Conversations
People on Chat42 come from many countries and backgrounds. What seems normal in one place can be unusual in another. Be patient, ask open‑ended questions, and avoid assumptions. A little empathy goes a long way.
Reporting and Enforcement
If someone breaks these rules, use the provider’s built‑in reporting tools. Include a brief explanation so moderators can act faster. Repeated or serious violations can lead to restrictions by the provider. If you need help with the Chat42 website itself, visit our Contact page.
